The Streetfighter 848 is a model of motorcycle produced by Ducati from 2011 to 2015. It is part of the ‘Streetfighter’ series produced by the Borgo Panigale company starting from 2009, the year of the launch of the first two versions, Streetfighter (2009-11) and Streetfighter S (2009-13). Unlike these two models, the 848 has a different engine, a Testastretta 849 cc , from which the identification code is derived.
The Ducati Streetfighter 848 is a naked motorcycle, meaning it has no structural components with aerodynamic functions (such as the fairing). The bike is 2012 mm long, 840 mm wide and 1131 mm high. It has a wheelbase of 1475 mm and the seat is 840 mm above the ground. The frame is a steel tube trellis ALS 450 . The naked trim allows the bike to be particularly light: in fact, the dry mass is only 169 kg while the running one remains below the 200 kg threshold (199 kg). The tank has a capacity of 16.5 liters.

As for the engine, it is a Testastretta 11 ° with 849 cubic centimeters of displacement (a less powerful version of the 1063 cc Testastretta Evoluzione that drives the first two versions of the Streetfighter). This liquid-cooled twin-shaft engine ( DOHC desmodromica ) is a four-stroke with two 90 ° inclined V-cylinders, with electric start, electronic fuel injection Marelli and multi-disc clutch in oil bath with hydraulic control. This engine has a stroke bore ratio equal to 94 x 61.2 mm and is able to develop a maximum power of 132 horses at 10,000 rpm. Connected to a six-speed transmission, it reaches a maximum speed of 243 km / h and consumes one liter of fuel every 18 km traveled.
Chapter suspensions. The front one consists of a fully adjustable 43 mm Marzocchi upside-down fork while the rear suspension is a progressive one with a fully adjustable single shock absorber, with a counter spring, consisting of an aluminum single-sided swingarm.
For what concerns, instead, the braking system, the bike mounts at the front a 2 semi-floating 320 mm discs , with Brembo radial callipers with 4 pistons and 2 pads. The rear one is a 245 mm single disc brake with two-piston calipers. The wheels are integral, both 17-inch, ten-spoke, made of light alloy; the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tires are from 120/70 ZR 17 (front) and 180/60 ZR17 (rear).

If the design and performance of the Streetfighter 848 make it a muscular and aggressive Superbike, the technological equipment is certainly no less. The digital display is programmed with a special chronometer function which, when enabled, can be triggered by the button that activates the high beam headlights. The bike is also equipped with a data acquisition kit that includes the DDA software and a memory key inserted in a housed entrance.
