Photoshoot of the Week: October 12th-18th 2020 – Kawasaki ZX-6R & Yana

Back in June, 2020, information about the first bikes in Kawasaki’s 2021 lineup started rolling out. Since dirt is good any time of year (well, when it’s not under ice), first came the off-road KLXs. Then came the KX motocrossers. In July, we found out that the Ninja 400 was getting a funky new turquoise color scheme in some markets.
Now that it’s Autumn, the full lineup is here and the overall color palette here isn’t super exciting: it seems like Team Green is markedly less green than it has been in the past and way more turquoise. It turns out that it’s not just a Ninja 400 color for 2021 — the Ninja ZX-6R, Ninja 650, Z125 Pro, and Z400 ABS get it, as well.
Who would have thought that the Kawasaki ZX-6R which Russian bikergirl and stunning racer Yana rides around her home city (Rostov-on-Don) would become fashionable because of its strange green colour? Surely Yana, despite her love for style and fashion, doesn’t actually care much about these kind of things: she’s interest in riding a great superbike and the nimble and light Kawasaki ZX6R is one of the most powerful middleweight motorcycles ever delivered from the factory. After all, bikergirls like Yana don’t want a motorbike for the spotlight, they love Kawasaki because they love to ride! After all, Kawasaki ZX-6R is cool by definition … and if Yana drives it, that’s supercool!

The 2020 Ninja ZX-6R brings the exhilaration of a race-born supersport engine to everyday street use. While ordinary supersport engines optimize performance for high rpm, the new Ninja ZX-6R provides explosive power in the low and mid range. This superior performance and readily available torque at all rpm results in significantly better engine response during street riding settings, such as in stop-and-go traffic, acceleration to pass other vehicles, or carving along winding roads. Complementing the already advanced rider support technology like 3-mode Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC), Power Mode selection and Kawasaki Intelligent Braking System (KIBS), Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS), allowing clutchless up-shifts, is now standard.
Loaded with high technology features like 3-Mode KTRC Traction Control, Power Mode selection, the Ninja ZX-6R helps a wider range of riders to enjoy this machine’s serious sport riding performance on the circuit or the street. Plus the MSRP makes it the highest value in the mid-size sportbike class.
For the 2020, the ZX-6R Ninja added technology, revised design, and features to attract buyers who still believe in the power balance and handle the sports bikes that provide. While meeting new emission requirements. Every contemporary sports bike is a technological marvel, but the most amazing feature of the 2020 ZX-6R is developed in the Kawasaki accounting department, because the most important feature is the price. The most obvious difference is that the chassis was completely styled, making this model look like his big brother, the ZX-10R. Its rush is new, but thankfully it’s stuck with a clear, old school analog tach. All the lighting is now LED.
The work was also finished. Although the Triangle Racer is unchanged, the fuel tank is now a bit more wasp-waisted, and the company seat is slightly narrower in front. This creates the impression that the seat is lower, although nominal height has not changed. The clutch arm is now adjustable to reach.
The most important recent change is that the ZX-6R now comes with S22 tires and combat wheels. Bridgestone describes this as a framework for sport rides and track-off days; they put in the same usage category as their best-known BT-016. Compared with the previous S21, the new tires have a different tread pattern and a new compound with micro silica particles that improve its wet grip without compromising on wear.
At its heart, the ZX-6R retains its 636cc built-in four-cylinder engine. To meet European emission requirements 4, Kawasaki used super-fine splitting injections. These injections inject the fuel into the umbilical volume of less than 60 microns. The minimum volume of this drop ensures more efficient air and fuel mixing. A corresponding engine feature features more “precise settings” to help reduce engine emissions. The best news is, Kawasaki claimed that power is not lost with a drop in emissions.
In the end: with the Kawasaki ZX-6R, we’re extremely pleased that the firm is helping to keep the 600 class going, but apart from its styling, detail touches and gearing, the 2020 model was not too different to the old model. That’s no bad thing because few machines let you dance through corners so easily, or rev with such unbridled ferocity. Add in its top-notch chassis parts, electronics and a classy finish and it seems impossibly good value. A supersport bike like this ZX6R is brilliant on the right day when you’re feeling it, but it’s too cramped, revvy and uncompromising when you’re not, which, unfortunately, will still drive most sportsbike fans elsewhere. There’s a thriving community out there for Kawasaki owners!
