Amethyst Amelia Kelly, known professionally as Iggy Azalea, is an Australian rapper, songwriter, and model born on June 7th 1990 in Sydney and raised in Mullumbimby, New South Wales. Driven by a passion for hip-hop, she left for the United States alone at the age of 16 to pursue her musical career, living in Miami, Houston, and Atlanta before gaining industry attention.She first achieved viral recognition in 2011 after releasing the music videos for her provocative songs “Pu$$y” and “Two Times” on YouTube. Shortly after, she signed with American rapper T.I.’s record label, Grand Hustle, and released her debut mixtape, Ignorant Art, which established her unique trap-influenced sound and fast-paced delivery.
Her mainstream breakthrough came in 2014 with the release of her debut studio album, The New Classic, which peaked near the top of the charts worldwide. The album’s hit single “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX, became an international phenomenon, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and making her the first white female rapper to top the chart.
Following her initial success, she navigated high-profile relationships, media controversies, and conflicts with her record label, eventually launching her own independent label, Bad Dreams. Aside from music, she has successfully ventured into modeling, television hosting, and building a highly lucrative digital business empire before stepping back from music to focus on other creative projects.
