The Lamborghini Aventador is a mid-engine sports car produced by the Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini from 2011 to 2022. Named after a legendary Spanish fighting bull, it was launched at the Geneva Motor Show as the flagship model to replace the Murciélago, quickly becoming a defining icon of the modern supercar era.
The vehicle was built around a revolutionary carbon-fiber monocoque chassis that combined extreme structural rigidity with lightweight performance. It was powered by a ferocious, naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine that produced 700 horsepower in its initial launch version, delivering power to all four wheels through an automated manual transmission and launching the car from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.9 seconds.
Over its eleven-year production run, the model evolved through several high-performance iterations that pushed mechanical boundaries and set track records. Notable variants included the Aventador S with four-wheel steering, the track-focused Aventador SVJ—which claimed the lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife—and the final Ultimae edition, which marked the end of pure, non-hybrid V12 production for the brand.
Its aggressive, stealth-fighter-inspired design featuring signature scissor doors made it an instant pop culture icon, appearing in numerous films, video games, and high-profile car collections worldwide. Production officially ended in September 2022 with a legacy of over 11,000 units sold, paving the way for its plug-in hybrid successor, the Revuelto.
